Younes Muslim Marriage Celebrant
Salam Alaiykum (Peace be unto you)
I'm Mohamad Younes and I am excited to be part of the new generation of professional Muslim Marriage Celebrants in Sydney & Australia offering you fresh and unique ideas for your ceremony.
As a Sydney Muslim marriage celebrant I share some of the most meaningful and joyful times in people's lives and I feel a real sense of accomplishment in helping couples to realise their vision for their wedding day.
I am an experienced, friendly and reliable marriage celebrant. Choosing to have a marriage celebrant gives you the opportunity to have your wedding where you want it and to also incorporate Islamic religious and cultural elements in your wedding ceremony.
The ceremony will be exactly what you wanted - I offer either an Islamic ceremony only (Nikkah), both Islamic and Civil or just a civil ceremony.
I will work with you and your wedding co-ordinator, photographer, videographer and other associated wedding professionals to provide the highest quality outcome. I will give you practical advice to ensure everything runs smoothly on your special occasion.
Formalities/Legal Requirements
According to the Marriage Act 1961, a couple intending to get married in Australia must lodge with their Marriage Celebrant a completed Notice of Intended Marriage (NOIM) no less than one calender month and no more than 18 months prior to the marriage being solemnized. ( I can advice you on how you may have this time shorten if you have a genuine reason. I will also assist you in completing the NOIM.
Prior to Marriage Ceremony, both parties will be required to sign a Declaration stating that they believe there in no legal impediment to the marriage.
The documents I need to sight are:
- If born in Australia - Original Birth Certificate or Australian passport.
- If born overseas - Original Birth Certificate or Australian or overseas Passport.
If either of you have been married before - Original Divorce Decree/Court Order or Death Certificate of previous spouse.
Two witnesses over the age of 18 are required to sign the Marriage Register and Certificates.

If you have trouble assembling these documents I may be able to tell you where to go to get copies or give you a statutory declaration to sign.

COMMITMENT CERMONIES
A commitment ceremony is similar to a wedding ceremony with the exception that it can not be registered. It is a public affirmation of a couple's commitment to one another. The wording of the ceremony can be structured to the couple's own preferences.
A certificate will be issued and signed by the couple and a copy of the ceremony on parchment paper will be given as a memento.
RENEWAL OF WEDDING VOWES
A vow renewal is a ceremony where a couple publically re-commits to their relationship by expressing their enduring love for one another. A sentimental rather than an official legal event, a vow renewal is a way for a couple to commemorate an important milestone, such as a major wedding anniversary or important personal milestone.
